This Kansas Buck(The last buck I'd harvested with archery equipment back in 2016) was taken on the Rolph Ranch, on and invite from our friend and co-founding partner Cody Rolph.

September 13 marks the opening day of the 2025 North Carolina Archery season and I am super excited to be joining the ranks again with my fellow bowhunters! With the deer still in their summer patterns, bowhunters who have been carefully monitoring the deer in thier hunting area have a great chance to connect with a deer who's predictable and undisturbed. In spite of the heat and bugs it can be a great time to be in the woods!

I've been dealing with an old shoulder injury from my cameraman days.(I'll spare you the details but it involves sliding down a snowpack on a mountain face.) Big shout-out to Dr. Brooke Neptune of Alpha Therapy in Southern Pines, NC! She's worked on this ole shoulder with stretches and exercises for over a year to get me pulling the bow back again. At one point I could hardly lift my arm above my head. Now, thanks to Brooke's skills, I can pull 61 pounds on my Mathews bow and hold it easily to aim and shoot. Thanks Brooke! You are helping me get back to my full hunting potential!

Which prompts me to give another shout out to our friend Ole Josh! Besides being a bang-up videographer and producer, Josh is a tournament archer, passionate bowhunter and a great bow tech. He's been encouraging me to get that shoulder worked out and start bowhunting again. He's also worked my bow and has it tuned up and shooting like a dart!

I love bowhunting, and now with my shoulder back in the game and the encouragement of friends, climbing a tree with archery gear and sending an arrow through the vitals of fat buck might just become a reality once again!

I pray everyone has a safe and happy hunting season this year! Especially my bowhunters out there!
