Some years it's easy and some others it isn't.
Some years it's easy and some others it isn't.

Early Spring..., The Drought..., The Wheat was too High!..., Whatever the reason was, our season was as tough as we can remember! Scouting before the season was really showing promise with lot's of sign all over the place but as the season progressed the birds all but stopped gobbling, and when they did, it was typically at each other. Then once the toms paired up they would go silent and wouldn't make a peep the rest of the day.

Many hunters felt that it was because of the early warm weather and the fact that we were in a drought. I'd agree with that because what we experienced doesn't resemble anything we've encountered on our farm before. Besides, If I don't have some other reason to blame for my poor turkey season then I'd have to admit that I may not be as good of a turkey hunter that I think I am... And I ain't gonna do that!

I wish this was an article to tell you that when times are tough, do this or that. Unfortunately this more about, if you had a difficult year this year, we feel your pain!

That's fine! Just more birds that will be available next year! Hey there's fish to catch out there! Onward!
