The first blow up of the morning startled me as I chugged a 5 1/2 inch Halco Roosta Popper across the turquoise water of the Barden Inlet at Cape Lookout. I involuntarily snatched my plug out of the melee with vocal disappointment. "Dang it! Did you see that?" Captain Noah Lynk of Noah's Ark Fishing Charters chastised me "You gotta keep your line tight and let them take it! Don't set the hook too fast!" I quickly retrieved my bait and pitched back to the same spot. Boom! Another explosion and I was hooked up! My first Chopper Blue is in the boat! This exciting type of fishing peaked twice that day. Once just before dead tide and a few hours into the incoming tide. Bluefish like their water flow strong and throughout the morning and on into the afternoon they attacked and scarred our plugs with their slashing jaws and used the strong incoming tide to their advantage to keep our rods bent! All this fun happened in one of the most beautiful and historic spots on our coastline!

The experience is one of a kind! Wild horses dotted along the islands, white beaches, clear water and all while fishing practically under the shadow of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. I'd recommend this trip to anyone!

The Blues are still here so if you want to get in on some exciting action and enjoy the Caribbean-like waters and beaches of the Crystal Coast then give our man Captain Noah Lynk a call! 252-342-6911. You can check out his website here too! https://noahsarkfishingcharters.com/home

Always a treat to see the wild horses at Cape Lookout. These bloodlines date all the way back to the Colonial Spanish. It's never been proven that their ancestors swam from shipwrecks but either way, they're tough critters to live on the banks through hurricanes and brutal weather.

Explosive top-water bites with jumps and drag burning runs makes the chopper bluefish an angler's dream!
